Authorize settlement of lawsuit by former Wrestling Coach Christopher McNealy

Issue/Rationale

Christopher McNealy filed a lawsuit against the School Board of Clay County alleging race discrimination as a result of his removal from the Head Wrestling Coach position at Ridgeview High School. The School Board denied all allegations. The parties agreed to settle all claims against the School Board for a total of $5,000.00, with no admission of guilt. The settlement includes a total and complete waiver of all claims that Mr. McNealy may have against the School Board and includes the statement that the School Board denies any wrongdoing. The settlement also provides that Mr. McNealy will not apply for a coaching position with the School Board for the 2012-2013 or the 2013-2014 school year.
